For the past three years or so I celebrated Solstices at a healing house in Oregon. All the celebrations/rituals held by Robert and Sharon Chinook (Robert is a Shaman, and Sharon is more ecclectic in her paths... but both are amazing people). This year, I just made a major (and fairly unexpected) move to Texas... so I'm missing out on the festivities. Suffice to say, I'm homesick.

But the day, here, is still beautiful too... and now the days will be getting longer and longer. :) This makes me happy.

Happy Solstice!

Carnival of Healing: We want to hightlight your blogs!

(Permanent Link)

My name is Scott and I am writing to you from Otherhoodlight.com about the “Carnival of Healing” that we are hosting –online- on April 15th. The Carnival of Healing was brought about by Lila of http://healing.about.com and has been published on a variety of weblogs all over the world.

I stumbled upon this blogging circle about a month ago when I noticed that an entry that I had created for my own web space had been excerpted and published with a referring link. After some conversation I decided to volunteer to host an issue of the Carnival of Healing. What does that mean? Well…I am looking for others who are also writing about Magickal, Healing, Intuitive and related topics in their blog.

I am specifically asking, “How does blogging integrate into your Magickal or Healing lifestyle?” What I would need is:

For you to write an entry in your own blog, which I would then copy/paste onto Other Lights, Journey of the Liminal Being, as part of the carnival of healing. That would include links, references and your name as the author of the blog and body of work.

We would need this posted by April 12th, 2006 and the information sent to Scott@otherhoodlight.com

Work can include: Poety, journaling, art and design. Please do not post someone else’s art, blog, writing or work.

Your work, writing and or Art and images would appear at Other Lights, Journey of the Liminal Being: http://otherhoodlight.squarespace.com

What does it cost?

NOTHING, the Carnival of healing is free. You get your works and/or words out there and in turn get exposure as the subscriber list to this regular event is massive! To learn more about the Carnival of healing please visit:

Otherhoodlight: What is it?
Founded in 1999 after a series of meetings and meditations, Otherhoodlight represents the “Other,” the healer, the mystic, medicine person, psychic or artist. These liminal peoples are often outsiders in the modern world and in most instances searching for their place within the community while existing in an artistic or spiritual reality. Otherhoodlight represents the Other because it’s founder, Scott, is part of this liminal world and recognizes the sacredness in all beings, especially in those who are here to serve others through their gifts, passions and beliefs.

Otherhoodlight also represents community involvement. The symbol for Otherhoodlight is that of the energy of the world coming into our lives, which we then take, assimilate and then give back to the community through our actions. This community involvement then affects the world in a ripple effect, a cascade of compassionate action. Cyclical thinking is part of this ideology and community networking and involvement is essential. There cannot be a place in society for the liminal if we do not involve our selves in the community in which we wish to be a part of.

Otherhood is that state of Otherness that surrounds the artist, mystic or healer. To be an Other is to live in a state of Otherhood, following your creative, spiritual or passionate self in the cities, towns and countries in which we live.

Otherhoodlight is not a religion, a dogma, and Otherhoodlight does not partner with those that believe in harsh judgmental systems of belief, exclusion or purist practices. Separate is not equal. Different is beautiful.
